Description

The intent of Helton Awardee is to provide a group (department or collaborative group) defined as three or more, seeking education or training to prepare for a certification exam. The certification cannot be a requirement of their current job.  Preference is given to groups that demonstrate how the certification will enhance patient care. 

Eligibility:

  • Max $3,000 per individual
  • A group (department or collaborative group) must include three or more people.
  • Applicants must be a WakeMed employee for six months (by the application deadline).
  • Applicants must remain employed at WakeMed at least 2 years post award.
  • Applicants must be a benefits eligible FT/PT employee at WakeMed.
  • Applicant does not have any active disciplinary actions.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Applicant can only receive Foundation education funding one time per calendar year.
  • All returning applicants must complete a new application every year.
  • Availability and number of awards is dependent on availability of funds and number of applicants at time of application.

Other Requirements: 

  • Applicant lead must participate in an in-person interview. 
  • Each participant named in the application must sign a commitment form in advance of the interview, agreeing to repayment if they default on their commitment. 
  • Each awardee is expected to take the certification exam by Sept. 30.  Exceptions must be approved in advance of the award. 
  • Team leaders must request reimbursement by Sept. 1. Requests received after the fiscal year ends will not receive reimbursement.
  • Progress Report from applicant lead must be completed within 90 days from the final participant's exam.
  • Recipients may also be asked to meet with supporters and/or participate in promotion and recognition of the program.
